Op-Ed: Visual Artists Challenging Rhetoric on Immigration Film Screening

"OP ED: Visual Artists Challenging Rhetoric on Immigration" will be a screening of short films followed by a panel discussion. The evening is designed to augment the gallery’s on-going exhibition featuring work by area artists responding to the divisive rhetoric permeating our social and political discourse.

Among the films to be screened are excerpts from "Three Trembling Cities", a web series about contemporary immigrants struggling to balance work, dreams and family expectations. The fictional episodes are bookmarked by interviews with actual immigrants, and the featured actors are either first or second-generation immigrants.

The purpose of the exhibit and the film screening is to provide a forum for the public to have a dialogue on current events affecting our community. As artists and business owners we feel that it is important to have this discussion through art and visual imagery as well as conversation. We hope to create a space where fellow artists and community members can learn and connect with each other to foster communication and understanding of each other.

RSVP recommended, but walk-ins welcome with space permitting.
